'So You Think You Can Dance?', the sensational dance competition TV show is coming live to the Fox Theatre!
'So You Think You Can Dance?' is a televised dance competition show that was created by Simon Fuller and Nigel Lythgoe (who are also the producers of the singing competition television series, American Idol). It features dancers (who are trained in various styles) undergoing multiple rounds of auditions which test their adaptability to styles they aren't trained in. The dancers who pass all the auditions enter the main phase of the contest in which they perform (either as a solo act, duet, or group) a dance styles (such as classical, contemporary, ballroom, hip hop, street, club, jazz, musical theatre, and many others) on live TV. A panel of judges critiques each performance and the audience votes on which dancers advance from one week to the next. The show premiered on the Fox network in July 2005 and went on to become that summer's top rated TV show. It's received many accolades including 11 Emmy Awards (for Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety Series, Outstanding Lighting Design/Lighting Direction for a Variety, Music, or Comedy Series, 2 for Outstanding Costumes For A Variety/Music Program Or A Special, and 7 for Outstanding Choreography) and 2 Teen Choice Awards (for Choice TV Breakout Show and Choice Summer Series).
